Contract Position for Materials Accountant
Internal Accountant – Full Time (Permanent)
Start date – flexible
Two (2) to three (3) years accounting experience is required to ensure the successful candidate can efficiently complete the following processes:
- Payables cycle – receipt of vendor invoices, coding to proper expense account, entry into payables system, generation of AP cheque to vendor, etc.
- Receivables cycle – daily monitoring of scale tickets, clearing of exceptions, daily cash receipts and posting to AR subledger, bi-monthly generation of customer invoices and update of AR subledger, monitor AR aging and place collection calls as required, etc.
- Month end process involving account reconciliations, accruals and inventory adjustments
- Ongoing correspondence with scale dispatch and materials sales staff as required
The successful candidate should also possess the following attributes:
Strong command of the English language – written and spoken
Excellent organizational skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong understanding of MS Excel
Desire to tackle new challenges as they become available
General computer skills, and the ability to learn new industry-specific software as required
The successful applicant will start by covering a maternity leave for the existing materials accountant that will conclude in March of 2020. During this time, you will provide co-workers and management with an opportunity to match future work (that becomes available through retirement and or growth) with your demonstrated skills.

Starting Salary - $38,000 to $40,000
